Good morning, Year 2!


It's only a week till we get you all back in school,
so it's time for the last push with your home learning laugh


Today we are very lucky to be meeting Samuel Pepys in our Zoom calls.

Today we'd like you to upload your Enquiry work to Tapestry yes



Here is your suggested timetable for the day


  • Watch the video of Miss Williams counting vertices on real life 3D shapes.
  • Go on your own hunt around your home looking for different 3D shapes (or use the 3D shape nets) and count the vertices.
  • Watch the video ‘Counting vertices’ on the Year 2 page.
  • Complete questions 1-5.


  • Head to Tapestry to find your group’s assigned phonics/SPaG activity.


  • Grab a healthy snack and get outside for some fresh air for a run around, a kick around or a bit of fresh air.

  • Today join us on Zoom to meet our special guest, Samuel Pepys! Be ready to bring your 3 questions ready to ask him.
  • Come and join us for a lesson but also for a catch up and to ask any question you have.


  • Think of 3 questions to ask Samuel Pepys on our Zoom today.
  • Find out more about Samuel Pepys and why he kept a diary, use the page from our book, or what we learnt from our Zoom, or the website on the Year 2 page.
  • Make a poster, a video, a quiz or a comic strip to present your findings.


Today there are 2 SPaG activities.
Everyone needs to have a go at Activity 1.

  • Practise the spellings following the instructions in the table.
  • Fill in the missing words in the sentences using the spelling you have practised.

Activity 2 is optional but if you have received a text telling you to complete Activity 2 please do.

  • Watch the video on ‘Apostrophes for Possession’ on the Year 2 page.
  • Choose the correct word to complete the sentence.
  • Look at the pictures and write a sentence to describe each using an apostrophe to show possession.


  • Enjoy some lunch and get outside for fresh air.


  • Sign into your Bug Club account and pick a book to read.
  • Read your chosen book and complete the activities as you go along.


  • Watch the video ‘How do we know about the Great Fire of London?’.
  • Pick 5 of the sources of information about the Great Fire of London and explain what they tell us about the Great Fire of London’.
