Monday 4th May 2020

Good morning Year 3!  Hope your weekend was fabulous yesheart

No doubt you will all be glad to read that this week there isn't as much writing as our Big Write last week.  Thank you all for your herculean effort with the persuasive writing.  Today starts the beginning of a short week. Monday to Wednesday are full of Science, PE, Music, Art and Ramadan activities-- in addition to the usual Reading, Maths and Spelling and Grammar.  Thursday is VE day (like Earth Day there will be a variety of activities --off curriculum) and then Friday is a Bank Holiday.  Are those whoops of joy we hear?!

8:50am  Word of the Day – natural colours

Find out what it means.  Write it in your book.

9:00am  Joe Wicks PE workout or Cosmic Kids Yoga (YouTube) :)

9:30am  Read to an adult

Write the short date, book title and pages read in your exercise book.

Reminder, if you are working on Lexia, you should be using it 15 minutes today as well.

10:00am  GoNoodle and Maths

GoNoodle -https://family.gonoodle.com/channels/the-kidz-bop-kids

Maths – Measurement  -Time - Months and Years

Please see the attachments below. You will need a calendar for this lesson, if you have one!

11:00am  Break

11:20am  Grammar and Spelling

Ask an adult to quiz you on last week’s words.

Then, look at your new spelling words and start practising them.

Write a sentence for each word (in your book) just as we have been doing in grammar. Try adding

article

adjective

noun

verb

adverb of manner

adverb of place

punctuation

Remember, if you are doing Spellzone words, you need to log onto Spellzone and complete activities there.

11:30am  Science - Light – What damage can the sun do to our eyes and skin?

Please open Light-Sun Damage.pdf and follow the lesson. The activity is to make a poster.  We look forward to having some to display on the gallery or on Twitter to show others how to stay safe in the Sun.

12:30pm  Lunch

1:30pm  PE Cricket - Understanding the importance of fielding when playing a game.

While learning to play cricket in term 4, it became apparent that many children needed work on throwing and catching to prevent the batter getting in quite so many runs while the ball was thrown without aim, hence not caught, dropped, rolled through legs, etc.   This week we are working on independent throwing and catching skills. Can you do all 7 without dropping the ball?  If you don’t have a ball, a beanbag or sock ball will work.

2:30pm  Break

2:45-3:00pm  Music

Please have another run-through of the VE day songs, before going on to sing and learn the lyrics to The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
