Monday 8th February 2021

Welcome to your final week of Term 3 Remote Learning!

Online Safety Week and Chinese New Year on Friday!

Just because the week dedicated to Children's Mental Health is over, does not mean that you now forget to take time for the things that make you happy. Schedule in some time each day for you. Remind your adults to do the same - we all need some kindness and self-care right now. smiley

Keep uploading your work on Tapestry. We love to see it.

09:00 - 09:45: Class Daily Zoom Session!

It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).

Word of the Day:  Filter

Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.

09:45 - 10:30   Mathematics.

Step 11: Divide 4-digits by 1-digit

Today, we’re continuing with our learning on dividing by looking at 4-digit numbers divided by 1-digit numbers.

Work through the Monday 8th February – Maths Activity.

It is really important to watch the White Rose videos on the link – this will help remind you of what to do with the formal written method.

10:30 - 10:45   BREAK!

Get outside and enjoy the Winter air or try relaxing with some more Yoga!

Kids Yoga with Adrienne:

10:45 - 11:15   SPaG

SPaG - Vocab Ninja: SPaG Spotter

Work through the given sheet. Can you find the different word groups in the given sentence? Circle/write the relevant parts of the sentence.

Then, in Task 2, edit the sentences to make them correct.

Remember, try some Lexia/Spellzone too!

11:15 - 12:15   English/Writing.

What is you ingenious technological invention?

Like we did with our potions, we are going to create a persuasive advert, bit by bit for our ingenious inventions. So, remind yourself of your wonderful potion advert.

Let's build on these skills as we create an advert for your amazing technical invention.

See the attached sheet on how to write your introduction.

We look forward to seeing this on Tapestry!

12:15 - 12:30   Class/Own Book.

Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).

12:30 - 1:30   LUNCH!

1:30 - 2:00   Reading.

Read the Sir Tim Burners-Lee comprehension (you have read this before for you precis work) and answer the questions in full sentences.

2 - 3:20pm    Science:

Reversible or Irreversible Changes - Heating.

Watch this video from a master chocolatier. Warning: Do not watch if you are hungry and fancy a treat!

How does the chocolate change due to heating and cooling?

Complete the two science sheets: Changes Due to Heating and Cooling

Philosophical Question to finish the day!

Yesterday's Q:  Why does every cloud need a silver lining?

Miss Martin:

Miss Chapman: A silver lining on a cloud is a little bit of hope. Looking into the sky and seeing a cloud with the sun shining around it fills me with joy and hope. If we didn't look for/have the silver lining, that little bit of hope through a darker time/bad moment, we would just be stuck in a rut. In that bad situation never climbing out of the pit.

Mrs. Hudson: I love this saying. It reminds us to keep positive. I think we need to realise that whatever happens to us we have to keep positive. So although it is raining or cloudy, we need to look for the silver- the bright things in life. A perfect phrase for our Covid situation. Do you know you are all doing this, but the wonderful work and hobbies you are sharing with us. Well done.

Today's Question:  What is intelligence?

Spend some time during dinner or at some point in the evening, discussing this with the other people at home! We're sure there will be some interesting responses :-)
