What's for Dinner?
This term we are learning about the food we eat and what is considered a healthy and varied diet. We'll be developing our skills in the kitchen, making bread, pizzas and smoothies. Through our Science learning, we'll be finding out what our bodies need in order to grow and develop and to keep ourselves healthy as we learn about carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
I Will Not Ever Never Eat a Tomato
Year 3 have been reading I Will Not Ever Never Eat A Tomato. The next step is for the children to write their own stories tricking a person they know into eating foods they don't like.
E.g. Those aren't carrots. They are orange twiglets from the planet Jupiter.
Those aren't peas. They are green drops from Greenland.
Those aren't potatoes. It is cloud fluff from the pointiest point of Mount Fuji.
Those aren't fish fingers. They are ocean nibbles from the supermarket under the sea.
If you would like to listen to the story it is on the Books and Audio page. Any discussion thereafter about foods a particular family member doesn't like and how your child could trick them into eating it would help kindle their imagination in preparation for our writing.
