What does it mean? 

Can you think of synonyms and antonyms? 

What word class does it belong to: adjectives, verbs, nouns or adverbs? 

How many syllables does the word have? 

Can you include it in a sentence? Remember capital letters and punctuation. 


09:00 - 09:30 - Reading 

The Story of Icarus 

Read the text all about the story of Icarus! Answer the questions on the sheet. It might be helpful to underline key words in the questions to remind you of what to look for. 


09:30 - 09:50 -SPaG

Work through the SPaG Activity 4 questions. There are questions on pronouns, plural possessive apostrophes, subordinate clauses and fronted adverbials. Check the Answers to see how you performed. If you have log-in details for Lexia and Spellzone, spend 5 or 10 minutes working through them.

10:45 - 11:30 - Maths

Equivalent fractions 1 

Today you will be using bar models and fraction walls to represent equivalent fractions. Take a look at this video  or use the practice questions on Equivalent fractions 1 – Introduction powerpoint. Then have a go at the Maths Worksheet and use Maths Answers to check how you did (both in Learning Resources).

Inverted Commas 

Today you are going to refresh your memory on writing speech and using inverted commas correctly. Work through the activities in the ‘English – Inverted Commas’ PowerPoint.  


You will also be reading Chapter 2 of Demon Dentist in the PowerPoint and then writing a diary in the role of Alfie which includes using inverted commas for speech. The slides will guide through writing your diary.

Can you unscramble the letters to reveal a very important word in our learning this term?






Did you unscramble the letters? The answer is in the powerpoint. Work through it and watch the three short videos featuring inspirational people. If you can, talk to someone else about what you have watched, how it made you feel and why you think it’s inspirational. Cut out each of the pictures from Inspiration – Picture Prompts and answer these questions for each person (in FULL SENTENCES): 


  1. What did the inspirational person do? 

  1. Why did they do it? 

  1. How did their actions make you feel? 

  1. How could their actions inspire you?

Listen to 'The Wizard of Oz'. Today you will be listening to Chapter 7 and 8.
