Planning - Problem / Resolution

Let’s go into a little more detail! Plan both paragraphs using bullet points. In your bullet points you should be including:

  • Sentence openers (fronted adverbials, adverbs)

  • Key words (adverbials, adjectives)

  • Phrases (alliteration, metaphors, similes, expanded noun phrases)

  • Short sentences (which could be expanded upon)

  • Plan in chronological/sentence order

Remember to include the following in your planning:

Problem

  • The conflict or climax in the story

  • What problem has happened?

  • Which characters are involved with the problem?

  • How do the characters react?

  • How are certain characters feeling? What are their thoughts?

  • Is there a conversation?

  • Think about what human reactions might be

  • How might a mermaid react? Similar to that of a human?

  • How would a bird react?

Resolution

  • How the conflict is resolved

  • Is there a hero?

  • What character is that?

  • Is there an amicable solution to the problem?

  • Do Cliff and his friends have to come up with a plan?

  • The ending to the story

  • Is it a happy or sad ending?

  • Are you leaving it open for a sequel to happen?
