Should everyone get tips if they have done a good job?


Word of the day: spending


  • Find out what it means and write the definition in your own words!   

  •  What is its word class?   

  • How many syllables does it have (clap each syllable to help you)? 

  •  Make a list of synonyms and antonyms   

  •  Can you use it in an interesting sentence?  

  • Are you able to use it, appropriately, when you are speaking or in any of your writing opportunities?


Reading  : Head over to the reading challenges section and answer questions 15-22. You will need to read the text 'The Star' from the Reading booklet.

Today's lesson is called Estimating Money and it is the third lesson that can be found here. It is part of Week 9.

SPaG :Complete the grammar activity below.





Today we are continuing with your planning but focusing on the next two paragraphs. Before you start today, look through the planning you did yesterday. Familiarize yourself with the story you have created to ensure you keep on the right track!  

At the end of your planning, if you are able to, record yourself saying the chapter out loud in full sentences ready for you to come back to on Friday when you are writing! Remember not to save over yesterday’s recording – you will need all of them. It might be worth labelling the recordings, so you know which is which.  



  • What is the problem within the story?

Initial Sentence: The island wants the Water Mole from Cliff and was prepared to play dirty.  

  • What was the first thing the other island said? 

  • Does the other island have a name?  

  • How does the other island speak? 

  • What were its demands? 

  • How did any of the characters react?  

  • Does the island start to get nasty?  

  • ‘Well, well, well, what do we have here?’ 

  • Underwater mountain, nameless  

  • Mischievous tone 

  • Wants the Water Mole at whatever cost and will do whatever it takes  

  • Shock, disappointment, Iris was sarcastic back  

  • Begins to knock into Cliff hoping the island would fall onto it’s island!
