Hello, Year 2!

Today we'll be starting our diary writing as Samuel Pepys during

the Great Fire of London. Join us on Zoom for a model write.


Today we'd like you to upload your Maths to Tapestry yes



Here is your suggested timetable for the day


  • Watch the video of Miss Williams making her own 3D shape pattern.
  • Make your own 3D pattern using real life objects.
  • Watch the video ‘Make patterns with 3D shapes’ on the Year 2 page.
  • Complete questions 1-5.
  • Extension: Have a go at the extension questions.


  • Head to Tapestry to find your group’s assigned phonics/SPaG activity.


  • Grab a healthy snack and get outside for some fresh air for a run around, a kick around or a bit of fresh air.

  • Today join us on Zoom to go through the start of our diary writing.
  • Come and join us for a lesson but also for a catch up and to ask any question you have.


  • Join your class Zoom to talk and act out the events that he would have seen in the order that they happened.
  • Have a go writing your first diary entry as Samuel Pepys on Sunday 2nd September 1666.
  • Use your success criteria from yesterday to check your work.


Today there are 2 SPaG activities.
Everyone needs to have a go at Activity 1.

  • Practise the spellings following the instructions in the table.
  • Fill in the missing words in the sentences using the spelling you have practised.

Activity 2 is optional but if you have received a text telling you to complete Activity 2 please do.

  • Watch the video on ‘Compound Words’ on the Year 2 page.
  • Join the correct words in each sentence to make the compound words.
  • Use the pictures to work out the compound words.


  • Enjoy some lunch and get outside for fresh air.


  • Listen to the story ‘Fire Cat’ again.
  • Complete the book review to share your thoughts on the story.


  • Look at the sprinting technique card and practise your own running technique.
  • Set up 2 markers around 20m apart from each other and see how many runs you can get in 30 seconds. Can you beat your own score?
